What a great development in just a couple of years! :)
The early Videos were actually seeing the performer, showing all the action with NO "cut-away".Now - the movement is essential..
What didn't really change are the basic elements of a song : lyrics, melody, vocal quality, beat, rhythm, instrumentation, the energy - all that produces the "overall effect". If thinking about the early videos with their fashion and style, the very controlled set on stage, the limited details that could be seen,everybody would agree that it wasn't of such a Good Quality..
With time, the singer becomes an actor that moves, dances, shows something extraordinary. The more we go towards our times, the more we observe the trend of PERSONIFICATION of style..
